COMMERCIAL & INDUSTRIAL BOILER STACKS

Tri-Tech Sales provides commercial and industrial boiler stack systems for boiler rooms, process facilities, manufacturing plants, hospitals, schools, and other facilities requiring dependable flue gas venting. We represent Van-Packer, a manufacturer of engineered chimney and exhaust systems designed for boilers, generators, engines, incinerators, and other commercial and industrial combustion equipment. Whether you are replacing an aging boiler stack, adding new boiler equipment, or designing a complete mechanical room, our team can help identify the proper stack configuration based on equipment type, operating temperature, flue gas conditions, draft requirements, and installation layout.

BOILER STACK SYSTEMS

A properly designed boiler stack does more than discharge combustion gases. Stack diameter, height, insulation, material construction, fittings, and overall system layout can all affect boiler draft and combustion performance.

Tri-Tech can provide boiler stack components and complete systems for applications including:

  • Commercial boiler venting
  • Industrial boiler exhaust
  • Condensing and non-condensing boilers
  • Steam and hot water boilers
  • Boiler room breeching
  • Generator exhaust
  • Engine exhaust
  • High-temperature process exhaust
  • Retrofit and replacement stack systems
  • New boiler room construction

BOILER STACK DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS

Stack Diameter

Proper stack sizing helps maintain the required flue gas velocity and draft throughout the firing range. An improperly sized stack can contribute to poor draft, excessive pressure drop, condensation, or unstable combustion.

Flue Gas Temperature

Stack construction must be appropriate for the expected exhaust temperature. Traditional boiler systems can operate at considerably higher stack temperatures than modern high-efficiency equipment.

Condensation

Lower flue gas temperatures can allow water vapor to condense inside the venting system. Condensing applications require materials and construction suitable for moisture and potentially corrosive condensate.

Draft

Boilers may operate under natural draft, forced draft, induced draft, or positive-pressure conditions. The stack system must be designed for the pressure characteristics of the boiler and burner.

Stack Height

Stack height affects natural draft and where combustion products are discharged relative to the building, roofline, nearby structures, and outdoor air intakes.

Expansion

High-temperature exhaust systems expand as they heat. Proper supports, guides, expansion joints, and installation practices help accommodate thermal movement.

Boiler Breeching

When boilers connect to a common stack or require long horizontal runs, breeching design becomes especially important. Fittings, transitions, pressure drop, and equipment firing conditions all need to be considered.

BOILER STACK REPLACEMENT

Existing boiler stacks can deteriorate from years of heat, moisture, corrosion, vibration, and exposure to combustion byproducts.

Common reasons facilities replace or modify a boiler stack include:

  • Corroded stack sections
  • Failed insulation
  • Condensation problems
  • Changes in boiler equipment
  • Boiler plant upgrades
  • Fuel conversions
  • Increased or reduced firing capacity
  • Draft problems
  • Building renovations
  • New emissions or venting requirements

BOILER STACKS FOR NEW BOILER INSTALLS

For new boiler projects, Tri-Tech can help coordinate the stack system with the boiler and burner package. This allows key requirements such as flue outlet size, exhaust temperature, firing rate, stack pressure, breeching configuration, and building routing to be considered before installation begins. Proper coordination can help prevent problems such as undersized venting, difficult field transitions, inadequate clearances, excessive horizontal runs, or stack components that do not match the equipment.

COMMERCIAL & INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS

Tri-Tech supplies boiler stack and exhaust systems for facilities including:

  • Manufacturing plants
  • Food and beverage facilities
  • Hospitals and healthcare facilities
  • Universities and schools
  • Ethanol and agricultural facilities
  • Municipal buildings
  • Central utility plants
  • Processing facilities
  • Commercial buildings
  • Industrial boiler rooms

BOILER STACK COMPONENTS

Depending on the application, a boiler stack system may require more than straight chimney sections. Tri-Tech can assist with components such as:

  • Boiler adapters
  • Breeching
  • Elbows
  • Tees
  • Increasers and reducers
  • Expansion joints
  • Drain sections
  • Cleanout sections
  • Roof penetrations
  • Flashing
  • Terminations

NEED A BOILER STACK?

If you are replacing a boiler stack, installing new boiler equipment, or designing a new exhaust system, Tri-Tech Sales can help determine the appropriate Van-Packer stack system for your application. Providing information such as the boiler manufacturer and model, firing rate, fuel type (oil, gas, or other), flue outlet size, operating temperature, building height, and proposed stack routing can help our team identify the right equipment and configuration to ensure efficient operation and optimal performance.
